Hi, I'm Walter!
programmer, photographer and nature enthusiast
My journey began in Guatemala, my birthplace and childhood home. While my professional path is programming, my lifelong passion for nature eventually led me to photography. Growing up in Guatemala City, I would eagerly explore the city's ravines, observing birds, and looking for any creatures I could find. That fascination for the natural world now drives me to explore tropical regions worldwide in search of unique wildlife. I moved to Germany to study and life then brought me to Finland, where I live with my partner and dog. Despite changing landscapes, I continue to venture out whenever I can, immersing myself in the wonders of nature.
The animals in my photos are always wild and set in their natural environments—the only place they truly belong. I approach wildlife respectfully, minimizing any disruption to their habitats. I refrain from techniques that involve baiting, preferring instead to be opportunistic and open-minded while exploring diverse ecosystems. Most of the time, I simply walk, listen, and observe; occasionally, I set out with a particular species in mind.
In my photography, I seek to raise awareness of the urgent need to protect our world's threatened biodiversity. In the near future, I plan to offer prints for sale, with a part of the profits dedicated to supporting conservation efforts. If you're interested in purchasing prints or simply want to connect, please don't hesitate to reach out. We can discuss pricing and shipping options.
